We recently got a call from a client in the process of selling her Georgetown home looking to resurface the soapstone island in her kitchen that had gotten a lot of love over the years from being used as her children’s favorite play surface.
Unlike marble and granite, soapstone doesn’t stain and is a non-porous surface. It’s only downside is in its softness. Since soapstone is a very soft stone, it scratches extremely easily. In this case, the scratches were deep, so we used Electro Diamond Pad’s 70 Grit pads to get the job done.
After the stone was originally honed, it took on a white finish which faded back to its original color as we continued to work out the scratches and bring it back to its original beauty. Once the final polish was complete, we finished the job with an enhanced sealer to showcase the beautiful deep green color of the stone.
